The petition will hopefully demonstrate the public’s outrage to the Magistrate and make him realizes that he is not dealing with a trivial matter but one of huge National and International importance. These are not lowly starving poachers but rather the business men who make huge profits trading in rhino horn. If we do not sign the petition the three will almost certainly be granted bail and be set free to destroy evidence and intimidate witnesses.
We need to show the legal system that the citizens have had enough

I am outraged by poaching and recognise it as a matter of national and international concern. However, the magistrate concerned cannot deny bail based on his, or society's, abhorrence of the crime that has been alleged. Bail can only be denied if the state offers evidence that the accused is a flight risk or is likely to interfere with witnesses. This is as it should be. The alternative would be to live in a society where one could languish in prison for a long period (it may take a year or more for a case to be heard) based purely on an accusation that you have not had an opportunity to defend yourself against and which has not been tested in court.

Will never sign it untill the goverment officials who sanction rhino poaching because they have been bribed gets locked up. That is the reason why there is poaching and why it has gotten out of hand. How can you send young trackers home and let the old men do tracking. Go ask that that instance. Suppose you wont get an answer. Oh yes they arrested a few trakers later for poaching mmmm(Just protecting the guilty, names and places). Why is it South Africa is so blind everybody just falls for the anc's bulldust. If nobody bought tags then that will show sanrail we mean bussines, Alas everybody went and bought on only to find out later they have been scammed. eish where is all going to. WAKE UP PEOPLE we have the power.

The case was adjourned to May 22 for a ruling on the bail application - Accused remanded in custody.

This is the FIRST time in SA courts that a judicial officer has publicly taken civic voices into serious account when considering a bail application.

The report you posted a link to, with all the lurid headlines. I would hope that the magistrate ignored the mob pressure, and applied the law.

Well Im glad they took notice of the petition but still sad that Rhino's had to suffer
