New Here
Hi guys,
So I am quite new here (although I frequent the classifieds section three or four times a day) I am looking for a 35-350 L Canon lens. I saw someone had a up for sale a few weeks back..what should I expect to pay for one of these lenses?
One other thing, I have been looking for a Canon 80-200 F2.8. but these are so hard to find in SA its scary. anyone know if one is for sale somewhere? I am more inclined to purchase the 80-200 over the 35-350 because it has better image quality, but on the other hand the 35-350 is newer and has better reach than the 80-200 ( i do wildlifephotography).
please if you have advise please share with me.

Re: New Here
The 80-200 2.8 is an old lens stopped manufacturing in 1995, I don't think I've ever seen a add for one. The newer 70-200 2.8 lenses are a lot more common they go around R9000 for the non IS second hand - about 1 every 2 months. http://kenrockwell.com/canon/lenses/80-200mm-f28.htm
Recently there were 2 x 28-300 L on gumtree and one on ODP The 28-300 is newer than the 35-300 - They seem to go between 15k-20k
Perhaps consider a 100-400 and a 24-105 for arround 12k + 7k ?

Re: New Here
I have the 35 - 350 mm and am very pleased with it. I was lucky enough to get one for 2.5k, but although the optics are good it had seen a bit of use. Since I got the 35 - 350 I hardly use my 100 - 400 anymore, as I found I was getting hundreds of animal portraits and very few of animals / wildlife in scene or context. On my 5D the range is great, though of course it's a little short for birds, but if I want to photograph birds specifically I'll use the 100 - 400 on my 550D. Anyway, it's a great lens, I think, and good luck in tracking one down!

every now and again I see a 35-350 come up for sale. But it is just over what I can spend on a lens at this moment in time. I am looking to spend around 3-5k. which is what you pay for the 100-300 f5.6L. Looking on the net I found a even more rare canon lens that came out at that time. th 50-200 L...but i have not heard of or seen any of these lenses in South Africa...has anyone used this lens??? i just much prefer to you the older lenses as i feel the images are superiour...probably because they have that flouride glass. I also dont want to import a either the 80-200 L or 100-300 L only to find its been used well past its throw away date...
