Size issues

Hi guys
Playing around with the video features of the camera...editing in premiere pro I can export to normal HD quality no problem...its uploading small files to youtube that creates a problem.. what should I do or how ?

Do you mean when you upload small files, something goes wrong? or do you mean you need to create smaller files?

if the last, simply get MPEG streamclip and size down

It depends on your settings... you can go all out 4:4:4 and have no quality loss (not visible, anyway) and end up with about a 5gb per minute file

Seriously though, you set up your compression algorythms and wrappers and then your mbitrate according to your footage and final use. Remember, youtube recompresses into flash again, so whatever you put in, they will do it again. I suggest sticking to h.264 compression in an mp4 wrapper. Some have suggested that your original h.264 file then remains uncompressed, but I am not so sure, seeing that they actively provide mp4 files in the different screensizes to every page.

Vimeo gives better quality but doesn't have the "reach" of youtube

So at the end of the day ... I might as well not shoot HD then ? If youtube is going to be the target market.

I keep everything HD and size down before I upload to save sanity during the upload... the thing is that you never know when you are going to need that HD content in the future...
