no ... but I have hsad the misfortune of owning a 70-210 f2.8 and then a 100-300f4 ..... both were given away!! The 100-300 spent a year being fixed, even sent to Japan, but developed the same focussing fault within a month of getting it back so I cut my losses and gave it away.

I must be one of the lucky ones - mostly have Nikkors, but I love my old Sigma 100-300mm f4. Bought is secondhand and have had it for 4 years. Do not know why Sigma discontineud it - shoot Newlands and all other sport with it and have had great results - stunning lens for the price. Even old Fred gives it a good review.

Taking into account what Simon is saying, and from what you have read, it would seem that the new Sigma will definitely be an option, which is good news. I look forward to trying out one of them. Grant

Grant looking forward to see/read your opinion on the new Sigma 120-300 f2.8. Especially together with the Canon Mk III converters.
I have sold my 100-400 and currently only using my 70-200 f2.8 II together with the 2 Mk III converters.
At this moment my next lens is still the Canon 300 f2.8.

For everyone wondering about the 120-300 2.8 os sigma. I took it to the dog races, believe me it must be one of the ultimate tests for any lens. I have used the 300 2.8 and 400 2.8 as well as the 100-400 is. I will not say the sigma is better than the 300 or 400 but it is definately not worse. More on par with the edge because of the zoom. It was definately better with the converter at 420mm at 5.6 and more than excellent at F8. It is definately a excellent lens.

Sorry, this is a bit late on the post, but here is my two cents... I got the Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS version last year(2012) and I LOVE IT!!! I even made the very stupid mistake of dropping it. I was very upset with myself... Luckily no elements were cracked, just the lens mount was bent and the elements all knocked out of alignment...
Sent it of to Tudortech in Cape Town, and got it back with a bill of only R900! I was very surprised about that considering what this lens cost me. I thought it was gonna be in the thousands. It has taken some lovely sharp images since then, and never let me down once, even combined with the Sigma 1.4 converter.
I used to own the Canon 300mm f4 L non-IS lens, and trust me, that lens was sharp... but this one beats it in IQ at 300mm f4! Ok, maybe by like 5% if I'm guessing correctly... But not bad for a zoom lens! Here is a little sample pic of what this lens can do. This was taken with the 1.4 extender attached at 420mm!
