Challenge to the landscape (and other nature) photographers
A scary look at tar sands mining in Canada, along with some pretty spectacular landscapes. Watching this got me thinking of some of the areas where I've been working in Mpumalanga. Are there any landscape togs out there who are not only doing the "pristine nature" thing but also trying to document what's happening to parts of our country?
There's lots of documentary stuff floating around, but it illustrates the story. It doesn't tell it in the way that some of this does.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - I was not aware of the impact of this mining.

Do I have to spell this out? When the landscapes aren't all pretty, aim your camera, your eye and your skills at what you see before you.

No need to be arrogant - your post was a statement not a challenge!
Why not give us something to work towards - a monthly challenge for example... mining impact, litter impact, graffiti impact etc.............. I'll leave the rest up to you Henk.

Fair enough. Let's think of something like this.
The reason why I was thinking about this is that I spend a lot of my life documenting environmental damage, including producing documentary photographs. When I get away from this I go out and look for pristine nature. The two sometimes seem a bit disjointed.
Sorry if that came across as arrogant. It wasn't meant that way.
