Need help to buy a Mac
Hi guys. Need your help. I'm doinng a lot of video editing and still use windows. Now the time has come that i'm willing to spend money on a Mac. I needed a machine that runing smooth while converting and don"t shutdown or hang every time. I got a R15 000 and thats all. Is there anyone that can give me some advice and direction, where to start.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Unless you need portability I'd suggest an iMac. http://www.zastore.co.za/imac.php

Re: Need help to buy a Mac
Hi. Thanks aal of you for replying. I got a pc with the following specs as on screenprint.
Can someone just tell me in a few words how much my performance wil increace with say for instance with
a imac. This machine got a 2.750 Terrebite storage. I'm working with hd videos and using Ulead and Sony Vegas. Machine is struggling with his performance and keep on hanging and then i must start all over again. Then i want to know wich program i will received for video editing with this mac and if this is a better program and wil work better than ulead 12. Thanks, i know it is a lot of questons but i don't want to spend the money for just a tiny differents. Have a nice weekend

big if you load it with memory
2gig is to switch on 4 to do a few thing and 8+ will edit movies, what you have there is fine for home use but not editing if budget can go that far get the i5 if possible use a firewire ex drive aswell and you can run in 64bit or 32 on Mac something windows can't really do.if you get it i am envious had to sell mine little while ago due to finical reasons i really miss it.

Thanks Mike. I really appreciate your comments. Now i have a better picture.
Would this be enough?
Good condition PowerMac G5. Top of the range, two dual core 2.5GHz processors (4 cores in total), factory liquid cooling, 6GB Ram, 1.5TB drive, NVIDIA 6600, DVD-RW. Running Leopard 10.5.8, Office 2008 for Mac etc.

I'd steer clear of the older Power range. They used powerPC chips which are not compatible with the newer operating system (Snow Leopard, Lion, and the upcoming Mountain Lion) and applications which have, by in large, moved over to the newer intel chipsets.
If you want to run bootcamp (native Microsoft windows - ie Windows 7) or another OS in virtualisation then you can also only do it with a intel chipset.

Re: Need help to buy a Mac
need to go the intel inside route otherwise need to get REAL cheap, as stated you are stuck to old format
