Re: iPAD: nifty apps and recommended software, for photography and other applications
Filterstorm Pro - Must be one of the best editing applications at the moment for the ipad
Flickr Studio - Self Explanatory!
Geo Photo - See some images near you on the map! (F)
Light Trac - Elevation of the sun/moon at any spot during any time of the day!
500px - Fairly new application but they are updating it to add features, nice to look at the BEAUTIFUL images (F)
iD Release - Model Release Forms! (F - iPhone app) Newly downloaded but i would actually like someone to check if these model releases would be legally binding in our country, if someone can have a quick read at what comes out in the end of the form and comment please read HERE, particularly line 14 to 23!
Only the ones with an (F) are free, the rest are paid for applications!

Re: iPAD: nifty apps and recommended software, for photography and other applications
by the way, did anybody notice that you can do a split keyboard on IOS5
iAwriter - All my reviews and blogs gets written here, syncs with dropbox
Pages, Numbers and Keynote - need I say why?
iBearMoney - Personal Finance
Easy books - Business Finance
iThoughtsHD - Organogram business/project planning
Bento - Database
Photo-Sort - Keeps my galleries and presentations separated
Capture Pilot - Feeds my tethered shooting from the mac to clients
Flipboard
Zite - news feed
Analytics - Google analytics for my sitesKataData data usage calculation for conversions and codecs in video
For model releases I use Easy Release - custom model or property releases. Not accepted by the smaller stock agencies, but accepted by Getty and Corbis as far as I can tell... Legally binding in South Africa? should be, but there hasn't been a test of it yet as far as I know (any electronic document signature for that matter - maybe somebody else knows?)

Last time I restored my iPad to factory settings I took a screen shot of all my apps in their different folders using my iPhone so that I could restore it to its last state.
Man , I would have loved to have known this then! Lol

Re: iPAD: nifty apps and recommended software, for photography and other applications
I still have to decide on a decent photo app. imo, the ipad should be used for viewing only and preferably by not taking the images off the camera unless it's a pre-loaded portfolio.
Other apps are
Quick Office Pro
Note Plus
Calculator (forget the name)
Skype
Facebook (do not know why I bother?)
Various readers (Kindle, Kalahari ereader, etc)
Zinio (I do subscribe to one or two mags)
Various news type apps (News 24, Business Day, etc)
Reference works (Sasol eBooks (good), Wildlife of Southern Africa (don't bother with this one), thinking about Trees of Southern Africa)
Box.net (Cloud disc space) - great for sharing photos, maps to locations (like my office) and some limited documentation
Some puzzle type games (Loaded free versions to try and probably have forgotten that they are there!)
Probably the most important apps allow access to my various mail accounts, contact lists and calenders when away from home or the office (far beats trying to do this on a Nokia E72!!)

I was sceptical until I downloaded Filterstorm Pro and I have to say I've grown very fond of editing on the iPad.

I can only add a +1 to this, not that I do a lot of editing on it, when I do need to its a great way to do it!

But guys do I have to clutter SSD space to view or will this meet my initial requirement?

No, in any case you cannot view photos from your camera on the ipad unless they've been imported.
If space is a factor import > view > edit > delete

Why not just create a SA account? If you then change the country to Kenya you'll be able to access the majority of the same content (excluding movies, music, and tv shows) and pay with your SA credit card.

Stan - I use these guys - you get the voucher a few minutes later by email
(I would stay with the USA account once you have it: its a nightmare managing apps and updates over two accounts)
