Perhaps we should go to Rob's part of the world for a change. The picnic site at Karkloof Falls is nice (pretty sure one can braai there too, although perhaps we should send Rob to scout it for us). The falls should be spectacular if you get some rain. Rob do you know if the falls are open at the moment? We could start early, with a hike to the bottom of the falls (anyone know the route?) and get back to the picnic area in time for lunch.

Hahaha yes I did Actually, from looking at the google earth satellite image it seems there might be a nice more or less level walk along the jeep track to the river and possibly to the top of the falls. This might be a better option, as I could not see a route down to the bottom of the falls from the picnic site.

From the picnic site you can drive/walk up to the river above the falls, quite nice smaller falls there as well.
As far as I know there is a path/track to the bottom of the gorge, not sure if it is open to the public, will try and find out from SAPPI.
Could do the Howick falls gorge walk as well if there are some fit buggers around. Actually I would like to do the Howick falls walk again, was years ago that I was down there. Any volunteers to carry me up again?

This time of the year is always bad, possibly out of season (or mid January) would be a better time. As for me I leave things to the last minute... 3 days before Christmas and I decide to buy a house (well in the process of home loan approval etc)
