Hope I'm posting this in the right section :P

I've spent the last day or two trying to see if I can take some kind of "product" shots. I started off trying to photograph some Duracell batteries on a white background, but that wasn't working out too well for me. The lighting was prefect, but there were some parts of the batteries, particularly the very edges, that were blowing out, and I need to fix that. I'll get to that, though. I decided to give a black background a try, though. I wanted a shot of a Nikon film SLR that I have (Nikon FM2 - made in '71), but one that's not completely lit up. Honestly, I got pretty much exactly what I set out for. It took me 46 attempts, but that includes shots from the other side too. Point is, I got it :lol:

Here's how I took it:





No jokes: It's pretty much all paper. Who says you need fancy equipment, hey?

- Camera settings: f/16, 1/200, ISO 100, 50mm.
- The seamless background is a piece of black paper I bought at an art store.
- The flash on the left is at 1/8, 35mm. It's light is being diffused by plain old A4 paper. This is the flash giving most of the light.
- The flash on the right is at 1/64, 35mm. It's flashing against my wall, and its only purpose is to give the edges of the camera some definition (hence the low power).



All in all, I'm super happy. I'll tackle the white again tomorrow.
