There is a SAAF Airshow going to be held at AFB Waterkloof on the 1st October 2011. Lets see how many ODP'ers we can get together.

There's a lot of building activity going on at the base, probably in preparation for the 1st, lets hope they get it all done. I live within walking distance from the base (that is if they allow visitors to enter thru the blue steel sliding gates that border on Thereon and/or Van Ryneveld avenues. Does anyone have any idea if they will?

Tickets for the event is available from Computicket. See http://online.computicket.com/web/event/waterkloof_airshow/445421431. Also, there is a thread on FB where it is confirmed that there will be full SAAF participation with the Gripen, Hawks, Silver Falcons etc. It is apparently in the run up to AAD 2012. There was also the question raised of "Photographers Passes", and does it seem to be approved by the SAAF. I'll not be there, down in Hermanus instead shooting the whales and attending the annual Whale Festival, much more quiet and peaceful and relaxing and.........

Simon, lucky you. Spent a weekend in SomerSet Strand a couple of weeks ago. Took a bike trip to Hermanus for the day. Had lunch at Bientang's Cave (restaurant on the rocks)......awesome. Was not expecting to see any whales (too early in the season), but we did receive a surprise visit from a early visitor. It was magical to sit so close to it. I can imagine what it must be like when there are more than just one in the bay. I envy you...you are going to have a wonderful time, enjoy every minute and travel safely.

I'm sure there will be plenty of ODP users at the airshow to take photos and report back on the day's activities, so watch this space. In return, please take lots of photos to share with us when you get back.
