Off-side question: How many of the winner images were stitched from more than one image?

Will have to ask them. We didn't require that information as part of the entry.

Re: ODP POTY2011 - Panorama Winners
Mine was stitched from 5 images.
begs the question - does a panorama have to be stitched?
I often hear the comment - its the end result that counts (not that I agree at all)

Well... in a traditional sense you had the option of cropping down or had to have a camera that would shoot over a selection of frames in a single shot (Horseman, Linhof or Fuji G-series, etc) I don't think that a "stitch" is a requirement for a panoramic shot, just a wide enough field of view? It really depends who you ask... one group feels that an image with a size ratio of 4:1 or larger is a panoramic regardless of the field of view, others feel a panoramic is a field of view wider than what the human eye can perceive at once (so about 150 degrees I think...)

Category 4: Panoramas
Time to get out your wide angle lenses and stitching software!
This was on the entry page to the competition - to me it is quite clear that STITCHING was a requirement!?? I.M.H.O. many of the entries are simply wide angle or cropped images - to me this is not in the spirit of what the competition required!?
I feel much better now that I have given up all hope!

It wasnt listed as a requirement under the criteria. It was just the entry blurb referring to how people generally create panoramas.
