I'm currently doing the course through The Photography Institute. I'm pretty much half way through. Its been really good so far. A lot of great information, and the assignments are quite challenging!

One of the most recent assignments was to create your own zone ruler. This was to be able to check what your camera's dynamic range is in f-stops. This was a great way to check how far you can reach into highlights and shadows with your camera. Another was where you were given multiple scenarios of possible photography jobs like a wedding in a church with good lighting, copying of art with exact colors, etc. You then had to select the correct equipment from a list given and describe why you are choosing it and how you would accomplish your task. This is just to name a few...

I have just completed the course, I wanted to formalize my photography with a piece of paper & and learn the more complex technicallities that are not so easily acquired while teaching my self through books and the internet ...

The course is adversized as "introducing you to your photography business", so they assume your under stand the basic's ...

    my feeling's
    - there was some incredibly easy "understandle" assignments
    - & then there were a few really difficult "not explained properly" assignments
    - I thought I was past some the basic's ... but there were plenty "aaha" moments ...
    - he shares all (alot) of his personal experiences ... which is great

Thanks, this certainly is interesting and it sounds like you're having fun! I've resorted to DVD tutorials but there's an institute that offers a 7 day horseback trip to Lesotho which I may take up next year.

I’m thinking about enrolling on the course mentioned above or this one – www.inst.org/photography-courses/become.htm - Anyone heard of it? Thoughts?

    Hi There!
I just find out that great Moose Peterson in the middle of may starts new online class @ PhotoRishi dot com. I think i will take this training about Creating the finished image - as he wrote at his official site. What do you think about photorishi platform? anyone used it? It's not only Peterson's that can lead you, they have many more "Rishi's". What do u think about those kind of online classes? For me it's quite attractive.

Im busy with the course and compared to courses at other institutions, this one is much more in- depth and the online tutor will help with anything you need to know. Instead of telling you what to do, the give the principles behind it and let you know why and how to do it. Not for the impatient persons, theres alot of info to take in, and great assignments to do every module.

Well worth the money, and watch their site for specials, you might just get the course for next to nothing.
