Elinchrom synch cable help

Hi all

I was looking through my kit and there is a little synch cable that came with my Elinchrom Skyport system, it is 30 cm long and I am curious as to its function. Any ideas as only the transmitter has a socket to recieve the cable and I assume it is to connect the transmitter to the camera.

It can be used to link the transmitter to a light meter and used to trigger the lights from the meter (providing it has that function - I have a Sekonic 308) - great when setting up your lights.
