Having seen recently that Nikon took a bit of a hammering on your forum, i find myself forced to share, my experience with Nikon SA.
I had reason to check a lens i purchased recently (80-400mm) as i was getting soft images for quite a few of my shots and had reason to believe that there might be something wrong with the lens.
I spoke with Ryan Harrington of Nikons service division and he assured me that he would do extensive testing on the lens in order to validate his previous evaluation of the lens in the midrand branch.
I was constantly updated as to where i stood all the time and was not left in the dark..so to speak
Nikon went out of their way to assist with the lens, and the calibration of my camera at no expense to me what so ever and subsequently put me "on the road again."
Being treated like i was, not only reassured me of my faith in the product but also the fact that there was not some large corporate mogul out there that didn't care about the little guy.
Nikon SA gets a huge thumbs up from me.....well done guys keep up the great work!!!

Very cool - thanks for this update; it's good to hear words like this.

I've been brand loyal to Nikon since the mid-80's and it's been a worry to hear them being slated as far as after-service and customer relations goes, so this is very positive.

Thanks for posting your good experience. I've only had to use their service dept once and it was prompt and efficient. I've dealt with Ryan on other matters though and he's a stand-up guy.

Heya, Just to add my 2c ... been a needy NPS member the last nearly 3 years now and had to call on Nikon's service dept numerous times to aid in ressusitating broken and faultly cameras and lenses. Not once have we had anything but praise for their service. They have gone out of their way to ensure we keep shooting.

On the flip side, one of our togs recently had issues with a D90 which took numerous returns before they were resolved.

So yeah, slip ups do occur, but I think the chorus of applause will far out weigh the boos in the long run. Any business makes mistakes, I know we do, but most try learn from them and slowly better ourselves ...

Truth is that those who have bad experiences tend to shout louder than those who good, if those who have good experiences say anything at all. Glad to seem people take the time to share the good experiences they have.
