    Default CS3 Crashing

I recently got a copy of CS3 (new, sealed in a plastic sleeve in the box, which I opened ) ,I installed it on my Mac, Bridge, Device Central, the Help viewer , as well as Adobe Stock something(which has since been discontinued by adobe) all opens , but when I want to open photoshop it tells me : The application Photoshop has unexpectedly quit.
and I can cancel or send a crash report to adobe, it accepts the serial no, because it gives a green sign indicating it is the correct serial no, I haven't been in photoshop yet because it keeps on crashing.
Any ideas what the problem could be,
    thanks

I had a similar problem develop with CS3 when I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. If my memory serves me it was because my HD wasn't formatted as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

    Thanks Creeper.

I got it going I rolled back to Snow Leopard 10.6.2,
apparently there are 2 kinds of updates for the OS , a DELTA and a COMBO

    Copied from here:
"As you might know Apple mostly releases two versions of an update. One is a 'delta' update and the other is a 'combo' update. Delta takes off from the last update while a combo update covers all update since the last release. E.g. if an OS release is 10.6.0 then there have been updates like 6.1, 6.2 then the delta will update from 6.2 while combo will update from 6.0"

Delta updates, just adds new stuff to your last update , and a Delta update on one machine is not necessarily the same size as a Delta Update on another machine, one could be 20mb and the other machine's 25 mb even though the update is called 10.6.3 on both machines , AND the snag , the Delta update 'looks/searches' what your machine needs to get to say version 10.6.3 and adds only that info. And for some reason there was a mishap in version 10.6.3 and some machines didnt update all the info for the complete version 10.6.3.

Therefore its better to Rather do a COMBO update , than a Delta update

    1. Try to open an image file and PhotoShop crashes
    2. Try to save a new file and PhotoShop crashes
    3. Try to save an image opened in PhotoShop from Bridge and PhotoShop crashesIn some cases, the problem may be a font conflict, potentially caused by Suitcase Fusion auto-activating fonts that are already installed and activated by Leopard. Try removing duplicate fonts from /Library/Fonts, restarting your Mac, then re-opening the afflicted InDesign files, or temporarily disabling Suitcase Fusion.
