Best waterholes in the Kgalagadi

Hey I'm going next year for the first time to the Kgalagadi and would like to know which waterholes is the best for spending a whole day there?

I've been there twice but have only stayed in the major camps. Mata Mata, Nossob and Twee Revieren. Distances are not trivial and time to travel is aggrevated by poor road conditions so bear this in mind when making your bookings.

My experience says the water holes near Mata have been better than those near Nossop, that said I spent the better part of a day at a waterhole about 80km North of Nossop.

Others may have some comment on waterholes at the camps in the dunes where in the drier months you are likely to get more animal as the dune grazing is better than that in the river beds.

I visited KG first time this year in Jan. They had some good rains just before my visit. So green in the river beds.

We had a awesome day at a waterhole north of Nossob. Just before or after the Polentswa turnoff. So many raptors, unfortunately the wind was against us, but good practice shots for takeoff and landings. Even though all GAT shots.

I guess it all depends on the time of year, and as normal luck.
