Go to the Sanparks webpage to the forum and have a look at the sightings at specific areas. For Lower Sabie go to

Just about everywhere is good. But as many of us, plan your route with the sun in mind, early morning. It gets troublesome to have to turnaround to get the subject on your side, and driving into the sun.

At Satara I would sometimes do the S90 early morning, short distance with sun against you. S100 to busy for my liking.
Letaba the road to Engelhard Dam. Didnt have time to visit the Bird hide on the opposite side of the river.
    Low water bridge at Balule.
Tinhongana S33, sometimes good. Lost of water now.
Orpendam for picnic lots of water, green and green.
Leeupan, H1-2 was quite 3 weeks ago. Most of the birds have migrated.
Lower Sabie just about any direction, I try to avoid the highway to Skukuza. H4-1.
    Then lake panic at Skukuza.

The rest of the dams are generally to low angled or far away for good shots.

Speak to the local rangers. Martie and Irvin in LS. They always assist where the last sightings of Duke and Local Cheetahs was last seen. Ag the posing boards also help.

Just as a matter of interest, I was there beginning of May, and you would not believe how green the parks is. They had lots of rain, very unusual for this time of year.

And was lucky to spot the 2 Satara Badgers raiding the dustbins.

    Enjoy your trip.

PS, I hope you are aware of the new check in times. Now 14h00 was 12h00. They say if accommodation serviced they will allow you to check in earlier. Check out time is now 10am, was 9am.

I would cancel the booking and have 4 nights Balule, 4 nights Tzendze if camping otherwise Mopani and 4 nights Shimuwini/Bateleur or Sirheni.....Lower Sabie and Satara are far too big and way far too busy and if yo camp Letaba is dirty...ansd the North is way better than the south..my south gate is Phalaborwa and in Aug will be my 104th trip ...1 night Tamboti (Satara Latitude to get in and then 5 nights balule and 5 at tzendze and 2 at Bateleur...all those camps give an authentic bush experience most with parafin lanmps and solar power loos etc
