hi - perhaps not the right place to ask this, but i am sure you can help - when i play videos like this one it stops downloading after a few seconds - it starts fine, but then just stops. Why would that happen - it is not a lack of data.

What kind of connection are you on?

If the connection breaks for some reason, then the download stops and doesn't continue, or it may be that your ISP shapes the dataflow, so as soon as it sees something is streaming or a large continueous dataflow, the "tube" gets restricted to the point where it trickles through so slowly that for all intent and purpose, it has stopped...

I also have the same problem here: when clicking on JDP's link of the 7D, it opens a new page with embedded video content, which immediately just stops (in seconds) and went blank/black.

And I am using the work's connection (which is a T1 connection = FAST! Very fast).

The irony is that I can see any other sites, with YouTube, Flash, Vimeo, etc contents and load these easily. Even loaded Ian Weatherburn's link (via Facebook) of Disney's Ocean trailer (360p AND 720p HD link) easily.

But not with this 7D link on JDP's blog. It just do nothing.

strange... it's a vimeo feed after all... ?

Yep, strange, isn't it?

Take a look at the screen capture of how it looks on my Firefox browser. If I click on the ">" symbol, it loads, for say 2 secs, and then went black. The text link "Celebrity" at the bottom takes me to the Video site where I can see JDP's video where it then works.

I suspect that JDP's blog is not running optimally or he's re-linking to the Vimeo site from his blog?


For example, this site:
Daily Dose of Imagery, in Canada, is of a photographer on his bike. He recorded the whole ride with his 5DMK2 camera. A video/vimeo recording of 60MB which load/play instantly.

I tested it on 3 PC at the studio and 4 PC here at the CSIR and all works fine. It is just an embed from Vimeo, nothing strange. If it starts playing and then stops it tells me that it seems to be the feed you are using, it can not handle the bandwidth and then it stops. It does state you need a high speed connection. Groenie it may be that when you try to use it other people are also using the line and you fall in the queue or your admins are using a packet shaper to shape the data.

Nothing wrong with the blog that I can see. I even tested it over 3G with out any problems. Thanks for the feedback.
