I use Aperture on a MacBook Pro but it should be the same.

Thanks for the quick reply. Two questions:
Having created a smart album and then wanting to redo some of the adjustments to a pic, how do I access the master image in order not to keep adjusting the version and continually losing quality?

Secondly, I do not manage to get a slide show with synchronised music going.

    Thanks, Jan

None of the basic adjustments affect the quality of the master image. However if you want to start over just do a command+g to get a copy of the original (master) image.

If you export the file to PS, or do edit with something like dodge and burn, you lose the non-destructive editing up until that point. What you do after that though is again lossless from that point on.

Sorry - but I cant help with the slide show problem.
