Default Will you buy this screen: T240 SAMSUNG 24"

    Hi All!

Long time ne? Maybe time for a braai again?

Anyway, for the lack of funding for an apple screen, what would you say about this one: T240 SAMSUNG 24"LCD,1920X1200

I have an 20" samsung already - colour is not perfect, and you need to set Photoshop to about 20% desaturation, but it is ok for the price.

Can anyody vouch / warn against the above mentioned screen?

    Thanx!

    Later

If you can, try get the T260... it's alot better than the T240 (colourwise and quality)
Most of the gamers I know prefer the T260 because of it's quality.

The reason why gamers like screens like these are high refresh rates and well saturated colours. This does not necessarily make for a good photo editting combination.

The higher the refresh rate claimed usually implies TN technology for the screen. This is the cheapest and offers the poorest viewing angle and not always the best colour rendition. The larger Apples and the new range of iMac screens are IPS (in plane switching) which is what one sees in the more expensive screens.

Read a review on the T240 a while ago, but for the life of me can't remeber where. It was on a review site that was fairly critical and they gave the T240 a fairly good review. Excellent colour accuracy for its price class. it was on this recomendation that we got a bunch of these at work. We're fairly happy with them, but there is a bit of sample variation. Out of the 17 we got most were good to ok, one was pretty crap with the viewing angle differing a lot from the others and illumination uniformity was not that great on the one.

I'd say for the money, they are worth it if you dont have the budget to get a Dell, Apple or Eizo, but they do make certain compromises. I am considering getting two for home use, but I'm still looking. Be sure to test yours thoroughly when you get it or in store if you can.

Also, just as a side note, the same reviewer also tested the T260 and it was not up to the same standard, colour accuracy wise, as the T240. I'll dig and try to find the review & report back if I find it

    Edit:

Think it was this one, but remember another as well. I'll keep looking.

I own the T240 and it is an awesome screen, the color rendition is amazing and the resolution the same as the 24" Apple. I love mine.
