Canon 1D Mark IV
Know it's new - Has anyone had experience with this camera and is the combination of still/video worth while? Do any of the formats suffer?

Hang in there....
The are already up to firmware 5.8.5.... Lot of tweaking going on by the looks of it before it hits the market.
Seems like this one is not only getting the R&D but also the beta testing that the MKIII should have had.
Here's holding thumbs!!!

Beta testing the MK III SHOULD have had?????? have you even held a MKIII in your hands???? I've met a LOT of ppl who are like me, fantastically happy with our MKIII's.
I am in the R&D environment myself, and yes, sometimes we put out products on the market, with which 99.999% of the market is perfectly satisfied, and then you meet that 0.001% for which you product is not good enough, using it in conditions you have never encountered in the testing, and that might be disastrous for PR ..... but for 99.999% of the clients, those very same lemons are god's gift to mankind.

I think what it boils down to is consistency. People want a body that works when it is supposed to and behaves in a predictable manner rather than one that cannot always be relied on when the same shooting modes/settings sometimes work and other time don't. That is what I hope to get out of my next purchase.

but maybe it also boils down to what exactly is the problem, i.e. is the horizontal/vertical focussing not perfect ..... and learning to live with it... or if you can't, get a new camera.. when I went the Canon route, on telescopes, microscopes my Canon was underexposing, but after a couple of trials I learn't how to cope with that limitation, whereas, with Nikon, I had no metering at all .....
