Sport Photography....Where do you sell you images?

Simon, if i have a photo taken at a race meeting of a car during a race, would i need a model release from the driver if i was to sell it?

how does it work in a situation like this when i am not accredited and have taken the photo from the normal public area.

It depends on what you're going to do with it. If you're selling it for editorial purposes (ie to a magazine or newspaper to accompany an article) then no release is necessary. If you're selling it for commercial purposes (ie you're making a calendar or selling it to an ad company) then you do.

If it is for editorial content or private use (stipulate as such on invoice) you can just go ahead and sell without any releases, permissions etc.

Just make sure that your licencing agreement stipulates that very clearly!

First topic .... I have to sell too.

Got me a website and with luck a sweet-and-short name, got me software from a guy in Oz and let's see if it works. Hit-and-run. Today I "launched" by placing this link here, and another on a cycling forum. I've also mentioned it on Facebook.

I can also create galleries for other photographers ....

Time will tell.

In the meantime I would REALLY appreciate feedback on the workings of this "shop".
