What's a fair price
If you were approached by a publishing house wanting to use one of your photographs as the opener for an article in the magazine of a major medical aid; what would you consider a fair price to ask for such use of the image?

R500.00, single use, no transfer of copyright, credit to the photographer.

What's the price of a heart op?

not sure I understand? if it was an opener for an article on disposable icecream sticks, would the value be associated to an icecream?
I agree with Simon, but it kinda depends on size used and circulation. I'd say anything from R275 to R500, no transfer of rights, single use, single medium

then I'd like to return the favour (when they need me).
Sorry, should've kept my trap shut.

If they've set their mind on a specific pic I'm sure you could charge R2,000. (Maybe the pro's will now use this as an example of poor amateurs' perception of the pro life is!)

If they set their mind on it, then you can charge R10k but we are still in a "down" economy and I think those days are more or less over for 90% of the publishing jobs in SA

Re: What's a fair price
Thanks guys. I'll tell them R500, no transfer of rights, single use, single medium and see what they say.
The next question, should they accept, would be how to draw up an agreement. Is it enough to have the agreement on record in e-mails?
