Thank you Pieter. Yes, mine gets stuck zoomed towards the 105 end and at f8 and smaller. Seemingly it happens so often to these lenses they should repair it for free!

I got exactly the same problem on my 24-105 this morning. Shot close to 100 little kiddies with my macro lens as my only other alternative was the 10-20 :)

Thanks for your input guys. Yes, my monopod does have the dual sized connector but not my tripod. I think compared to your 100 bucks Luc's 50c does not sound too bad! :D
