Not sure what to make of this. Maybe the experts have an opinion.

It seems every time there was a big hooha over the Canon autofocus they do a test to show it is actually the best autofocus system available.

Are they wrong or right? biased or subjective? do you agree with the results?

MAybe they tested the Canon last and the poor guy running could barely manage a fast walk.

I dont know, but soon after the Rob Galbraith 1DMk3 storm they did their torture test to show it the best autofocus camera on a runner towards the camera, basically proving RG wrong.

Well it means if you are going to shoot a runner from the front wearing a white T-shirt with back lighting, the 7D is the camera to beat

What torture test??? A runner at a steady pace, lets assume its a jogger and not a full blown sprinter (he'd last only two tests keeping the same pace) then its no biggie. Lets get some erratic movement, like a rugby/soccer player, cricket player (bowler/chasing fielder) and see if the cameras can keep up with the changing conditions, then add less than ideal stadium lighting (night games) and redo, will be interesting to see the results. My very old D30 Canon circa 2001, of 3.3 MP fame, can track a racing car on a panning angle doing 120+ kph, but its useless doing that head-on. But it can track a runner/jogger all day long with a good lens such as the 120-300/2.8 So that means its just as good as a 1D MkII/7D etc???

A whopping 40% better success rate than a Nikon D3. Now, I am quite familiar with the Nikon D3 auto-focus. All I can say is that any camera that can really achieve that will be a beast to be reckont with.

According to Practical Photography mag, and I quote p117 "The only time AF struggles is with fast-moving subjects when servo focus is used. This tends to be the case with all the brands though,...". This is regarding the Nikon D300s.

I'm with simon. Try shooting kids on the playground.... if you have a good hitrate there (and not get arrested) then you have a good test result to work from
